Ya I was told about this months ago and I totally understand why here in Texas lots of guys just get combination plates but still run into the surrounding states and just never show they ever went it's also the reason IFTA did what they did, back in the day a sticker was needed for every state you traveled in now only your base state is needed so IRP is going to the same system. Sucks for the states that right huge fines for it now most states charge $2,200-$3,400 for not having there state on your cab card.

I'm sure they'll dream up a new way to get it from us.

So will the carrier's fleet average be used and me be forced to run under carrier's plate or am I still able to keep my own plate as a registrant only?

You'll do the same as you do now. The only change is not having to add states, just like IFTA. You'll be charged for what you run, just like IFTA. BTW, Registrant Only does not exist anymore.

    Semi Crazy Thanks this.

That should save me money cause I used to have to estimate states I had no miles in just to keep them on my plate and maybe not even enter them that year. So this is the last year of me getting ripped off at the IRP.

    Right. For MC #

Yeah it will definitely help the guys that had states on just in case that lucrative load pops up. That was me when I had my authority. I paid CA, AZ, NM, NV, MT and ND a lot of money for no reason for 7 years. DOT# registrant only no longer exists. That happened a year or so ago.

If the states don't raise their rates it will save me some money. I only run 100k per year average, but pay for 120-130k with all my estimated added in the total. Ever year at renewal I question myself do I keep these states or drop them.
