After home time first restart can be done at any day? If I went on duty Tuesday can I do my first restart on the Friday same week?

You are limited to one restart every 168 hours (7 days)...Anything before that such as two restarts in one week is a violation.

You can do a restart on Friday if your last reset was the previous Friday.. If it was after the previous Friday you cannot reset since it would be two resets in 168 hours, violation.

As long as you've done your 34 consecutive hours off duty, at home which have to inc 2 periods between 1am-5am. As many will tell you, you don't have to do the 34 hr restart, you can just work off the recap. Just depends how hard you run and how many hours you burn up " on duty"

I know that. But this is after being at home for 3 weeks. This would be my first restart this trip/month.
Does the 168 hr. still apply in this case?

I understand the confusion but even if you were off duty for three weeks and worked Tuesday you still cannot reset on Friday since you already reset prior to Tuesday... Do you follow me?

Yes, DOT will write that as a violation if you log a restart before the 168th hour garbage.

You can start a reset Friday but you will not complete a reset until Tuesday at the time you started your 70 this past Tuesday.

No it doesn't ......I take it you're on paper logs otherwise you wouldn't be asking this question. With elogs it's all done for you.
Contrary to what many will tell you, because you've taken so much time off, you will be eligible NOW for your 34 hr restart. In other words, you can take it anytime you want, if you want, because in this case, you don't have to do the stipulated 168 hrs. That's one of the quirks of these HOS.
I know this is going to fly in the face of all the guys who think otherwise, but that's the way it is. But it's easy for me as I'm on QComm and it's done automatically.
I took a week off recently to fly overseas and when I got back my elog told me I was eligible for my next reset, but of course I just kept on going. I'm not going to take it just for the sake of it.
These resets are optional and if you don't do many miles/hours, then maybe you don't need the reset, just work off the recap.

    KDT Thanks this.

    none of that is true
you start a reset from 168 since the last restart started
    not when it ended
so yes you can do a restart on fri
but then not again till next friday

ZVar, KDT, TLeaHeart and 1 other person Thank this.
