We have bigger problems than adding more weight to the trailer. How about fixing the potholes that's a start

Vehicles removing responsibility for knowing what you're doing behind the wheel is part of the problem! Get rid of automatic transmissions so that people have to take an active role in their driving. Eliminate ABS so people learn to properly use their brakes. I'd even go so far as to rid vehicles of power steering! The more EFFORT people have to put into their driving, the less time & energy left over for other distractions.

This issue, along with the FMSCA's desire to increase truckings insurance liability minimums are similar. Somehow it is acceptable to force trucking to pay for, or protect against other vehicles inability to be safe.

Now just think if this kind of wacko thinking was in other areas. If you got mugged, should you have to pay to have a police report done? Should victims of crimes be made to pay for the prosection of criminals? Of course not. But they want truckers to pay to protect lousy drivers from their own inabilities and consequences.

Along the lines of what some others have said, perhaps we should remove the air bags, and put railroad spikes on the dashboards, so drivers have a constant reminder of the dangers of their own stupidity.

You mean collision avoidance systems like this?

4 wheelers cause 78% of the small vehicle/ large vehicle accidents, why don't they fix that first?

Sorry I wasn't trying to moderate, it just chaps my behind when someone comes up with another way for it to be my fault for them not doing what they are supposed to. Again I apologize.

I'll tell you what is wrong with the question...............you asked it in such a way as to lead one to believe you are coming at this from a pre-conceived; already arrived at conclusion and are looking for corroboration for your position. FURTHER; you have jumped on here........no other posts except probing, leading questions about regulations, HOS, etc. Don't expect warm fuzziness. There is no indication you are a trucker; just someone asking questions with the hope of gathering info. to support your position. If that's too blunt; tough. It's how I see it.

    Sublime Thanks this.
