Again if it ISNT marked no trucks--and you WERE on a DIRECT route--to or from your destination--get address for clerk of court where ticket is issued---make call explain--sent copy of ticket--along with copy of BOL(w/adress and consignee)to clerk--certified mail--and it goes poof--we do it at least twice a month--:biggrin_25514:

That's the thing. NYC specifically says that you can't rely on signage or lack of signage designating a truck route. That's why we're professionals - we are expected, and should be able to plan and follow a legal route to our destination.

Your best bet is to pay a lawyer in NYC to handle this. You might be able to have it dismissed.

Probably more in New York, but my last ticket last year for "ignoring" a no thru trucks sign was $235 in Texas. The bad part was, it was a moving violation- "Disregard traffic control device"- the sign. I paid it because I didn't feel like going back to deal with it in court.

It was a complete money grab, but I won't derail the thread with the details.

I found this on "Labor Law Talk" forum. http://www.laborlawtalk.com/showthread.php?t=168209

"FYI: An off truck route violation in NYC is 2 points for each violation. First offense is $250, 2nd offense is $500, 3rd offense is $1050...I don't know anyone who has been found guilty for more than 3... yet.
The law was changed in 2003 http://www.truckflix.com/news_article.php?newsid=200
Here is an updated traffic study that provides some insight into NYC truck route policy http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/download...tm4eduprog.pdf
There is now an official NYC truck route map available."

Here is another site that says the same thing...
".If you are caught being OFF TRUCK ROUTE, you will be fined $250 plus 2 points on your license. Second and third offenses $500 and $1000 with 2 more points each time."

Source is "New York City Trucker":

TICKET DISMISSED. My delivery route was on that street.
Judge says the ticket was written wrong. Im in Brooklyn again. If i had paid it would have been 288 plus more if i lost in court

    windsmith Thanks this.

They don't tend to try placing points on out of state licenses, for what it's worth. Unless you hit something it's a money grab.

What street were you on anyway?
