U S Carrier running into Canada

    I run under my own authority and thinking about starting to run up into Canada. I have my Can Code and pars/paps barcode stickers. I run a280" Pete with 48' and 53"stepdecks with sliding rear axles. I know I'll have to buy permits for tractor length but any other issues or stories I should be aware of?? Thanks

    Manitoba and west do not like longer than 244" wheel bases ... I am pretty sure you can get permits for longer WB easily from BC/AB/SK but from my research Manitoba will not let you run anything more than 244" ... I could be wrong. The western provinces also view a spread axle as only 1 axle and therefore only allow 9100 kg (20,000 pounds) TOTAL for both axles ...

    Aside from that, I think all you would need is the provinces listed on your cab card and a NSC authority from one of the provinces, whichever you decide would be your "home province"

    BTW you can get away with using your driver rewards option in your truck ECM ... just do not get caught going faster than 65 ...

    Your probably already familiar with cabotag rules but if not just research them. The are pretty much the same as US.
