    The windscreen? What are you? British????? Lol. Seriously though, they wouldn't help either. Those rental trucks all have that and they still run into everything. Common sense. That's all that's going to help.

    they could always have a laser system at the enterance that sends alerts into your cab if the truck or tailer is overheight and flashes red stop lights ahead of your path and in road stop lights like at airports to prevent runway incursions

    Not gonna change--and for all of you who like to claim the gps thing--this is NOT a NEW issue--happened on a regular basis when I was riding up there with my Dad when i was still too small to reach the pedals!
    BUT---one thing that would help--is an extremely aggressive campaign targeting some of the local outfits--especially the skateboarders--there are quite a few--LOCAL OUTFITS--that have set up their trucks to be able to run the pkwys---IN an attempt to beat traffic--rarely a trip goes by===where I don't see one of this bunch--taking the left exit off the inbound Verrazano--onto the Belt Pkwy--to cut some miles to the island---many are ROAD TRACTORS--usually flat tops --with cut down stacks pulling a skateboard....and almost inevitably--some OTR type follows them right down

    The drivers hitting these low clearances on the parkways are not paying attention to the posted "no trucks allowed" and low clearance signs on the road. You could post it in 6 inch tall letters on the windshield and still make no difference if no attention is paid to the actual overheard clearance they are approaching. I see various carriers on the road with different decals all over the truck giving instructions to the driver (Did you do a pretrip?, Get Out And Look, Lock your tandems, sweep your trailer, etc., etc., etc), yet still does not prevent many actions. You just cannot fix stupid!

    Who are you kidding? Traffic doesn't move fast enough through there to have a multi-vehicle collision...

    Oddly enough, the traffic on the parkways backs up long before the expressways start to jam up. I see no value in trying to run parkways to save time.
