it's rude and disrespectful to break at the fuel island. some truckstops are just as busy as night as they are in the day.

some of you guys could really use a diet. yet you got your mouth wider then your head trying to eat your meal.

what i hate, is when i need to just simply grab my fuel ticket, and most times, get my drink. and i have to wait an hour for the guy in front of me to figure out how to use his points for a shower or get permission from congress to buy fuel. i don't know why you all have to make shopping and purchasing at a truckstop more aggravating then walmart.

takes me 2 seconds to make my purchase, AFTER i've stood inline for an hour waiting for the register to free up. from the ONLY person in front of me.

The new HOS are a money maker for cities and towns. Too many trucks on the road for everyone to have a perfect day. It's not restful on a break if you're stressing out that some macho cop will nail you for a big dollar ticket. The goofy people in Washington, DC and their policy of ,"Well, just pass the legislation and we'll worry about what's in it later."

Maybe I ought to add.. any face to face arguement I've been in with another driver has been in the fuel island about the wait.. when its two trucks deep or more expect to there awhile.. some truck stops are predictable .. any driver that tells me they never wait is tryin play a bluff..

Except for trucks stops around major metropolitan areas, I've found it rather easy to find parking in most places. It used to be to where you couldn't find a parking spot at a truck stop along any interstate after 5pm local time. Lately, I've been finding a LOT of stops half full closer to 7pm. I think this really has to do with less drivers on the road and that break extending our day.

Of course it is disrespectful to take a break at the fuel island... I am saying that if there is no one is behind me at the pump itself, because I always pull forward after fueling... If there are people behind me I won't even think about it.

There is just one problem with that, if your fuel receipt says 6:05pm and your log says you were off duty at that time then that is technically falsifying your logbook... Most DOT officers will not even bother looking at that minuscule detail, but they are definitely out there... Just be forewarned..

I start my eLog "On Duty fueling" when I get to the end of the exit ramp and by the time I make it to the back of the line then go to Off Duty (move it back to On Duty first). That way if there is a long wait, I have options to knock out a 30 if needed more quickly, and/or at least conserve On Duty time.

As far as 10's. I think it is more a matter of A LOT OF TRUCKS are on the road today, moving fewer miles in a week rather, rather then HOS changes. If it were somehow possible to make ALL trucks/drivers work at 100% HOS efficiency, we could get rid of probably 30-40% of the trucks out here. But trucking companies have to be manned in a way rapid freight movement increases can be met overnight and for as long as the surge lasts, but in the mean time, many are parked somewhere, not moving.
