To a point I agree, but with common sense comes into play.

When I was driving I tried to run midnight till 10 or 11 AM so I could get a parking spot when it was time for a break. I found at night more than not the fuel Island was empty more than busy like it is during the day. Yes a few are busy at night also, where common sense comes into play. Most who came into fuel would pull into the closer pumps so I would pull into the furthest. This way I am not killing 30 min looking and trying to park in full parking lot. Saving my hrs. From the time you park, walk into the truck stop use the restroom, buy a drink or coffee as many drivers drink, and walk back to the truck. your 30 min break about over. But of course if the fuel island busy, find one that not. They are out there.......

I'll do a 30 on fuel in middle of night. Never my fuel stop or it after I fuel BUT I always make sure lines are empty if not I'll pull off to side

I've never had a timestamp on my fuel receipts (off these modern registers), just a date.

There is some urban legend out there that there are a few CMV cops who will call truck stops to get a transaction TIME to verify what the driver is claiming. Problem is ... if a driver is cooking the books, "fuel entries" that can fail an audit or verification are not going to exist. So excuse me if I don't buy this, however, I have seen a photo of a memorandum at a truck stop informing employees to NEVER attempt to provide transaction detail info to anyone calling in claiming to be a state CMV officer and looking to verify log book entry.

Eh, I don't care if the Great Pumpkin came down and told me that fairy tale himself, I've been logging this way for over a decade without issue.

Besides that, they're not going to split hairs over 15 minutes or so... it's not like all the clocks in the world are synced up to the second.

If they were hours apart, well yeah there'd be issues.... but not for waiting in line to pump.

I dunno about Qualcomm , I've never used one before. Sometimes I wished my receipts showed the time bc I wouldn't have to try to get my memory kick started! :)

For those who don’t “know” me here yet, I am not a dude, :biggrin_2552: I am a lady. :biggrin_25519:
Second, during my almost 7 yrs of OTR, I have never gone over my hrs trying to find a place to park. But I spend A LOT of time planning all my stops and even when the unpredictable happens, I end up finding a place to park before my time expires.
I know about Walmarts. I have pulled for them when I was in a dedicated account. I have a Road Atlas with all WMs and Sam’s locations on major highways in the country. And I also have lots of notes of good places to park at night, directories, so forth an so on.

I appreciate the suggestions about locations and ideas. But that wasn't quite my point... My posting was a question to you drivers, on how the new HOS affect you when it is time to park for the mandatory breaks.

So far, it seems that many here haven't experienced any change and/or that has not affected them... :biggrin_25512:
Having to do more planning to satisfy the new rules is no big deal... Nobody agreed that there are more trucks parked everywhere due to those changes….
You folks say that there are lots of safe places to park at any time… Right? :biggrin_2554: And yes... applets can help a lot in finding places.... But some don't allow truck parking at night and folks are taking a risk of having to move if security says so. Probably no big deal, if they are on paper log.

And some here find ok to park at a fuel bay for 30 mins inconveniencing others, like myself who need to fuel at night… :biggrin_25510:

Ohhh… and I understand that those on paper log or using a Qualcom that will allow them to change status while in a traffic jam, will not have any problem “forging” their breaks...
Great discussion... Keep those opinions coming... :biggrin_25519:
