It is perfectly legal to log multiple activities in one city, off duty, sleeper, on duty, driving and combine all the times.
Usually used for multiple stops in one city where it is impossible on a 15 minute graph if you are stopping 4 different addresses for less than 7 minutes (think LTL) within a say 2 hour period, had driving time in between and maybe a lunche break. As long as the driving time is totaled last you are ok. Hence you might show 1/2 hour on duty delivering, driving for say 3/4 hour, and 3/4 hour for lunch off duty. You might have even snuck into the sleeper for part of that 45 minute lunch break. Were you resting? Who knows. But you logged it legally.
Think of your present logging of sleeper/off duty now. Do you draw a line of your log everytime you are "resting" in the sleeper berth and stand up to get a sweatshirt or make a phone call legally going to off duty? No, you combine the times.
The same applies for your on duty activities. If your receipt shows you were at x town and your log shows you were in x town during that time frame you are on solid ground.
That doesn't Barney Fife isn't going to bust you. But incorrect abd illegal tickets get written all the time. If you get one, fight it.

As a general rule I don't do Walmart Parking unless they have actual Truck Parking Spots.
Not many of those around anymore.

I've only parked at Walmarts (w/o Truck Spots) a handful of times.
Not counting the Year or so I was doing Walmart Dedicated.

I read somewhere that only about 150 drivers were used in the "study" conducted for the new HOS and most of them were local and only a few were OTR... WTF... :biggrin_25510: Is that right?

That "study" was manipulated in a way to prove that we need more breaks and longer resets in order to be "safer"... :biggrin_25523: Which is not true at all.

What we need is more flexible HOS, and more truck parking areas... :protest:

I don't know if it's my impression, but I have seen more truck stops charging for parking than before... I see lots of closed rest areas and scale stations that don't allow parking when they are closed... :biggrin_25510:

We should not have to park at "obscure" locations like we have in order to obey their freaking HOS...

We should not have to reduce our driving hrs to avoid not being able to find a place to park in time... I am talking mostly about those on elogs that can't "forge" their hours.

BTW, elogs have made me more stressed than before...
I do a very good and meticulous planning, with no applet or smart phone... :biggrin_25512: Just my Road Atlas, my notes, my directories... and Google satellite... :yes2557:

Planning takes some time... but I like to know where and when I will park for my breaks, fuel stops, etc... there are places where I would not park, specially at night not only for my safety but also for my co. reputation - such as abandoned businesses, adult places... :biggrin_25512:

I guess if I were on a dedicated route constantly, it would not be very difficult to find locations to park for mandatory breaks, etc. But being OTR, having to plan my routes in a hurry, sometimes with not much time for that, considering possible delays such as traffic, customers, etc, the extra "useless" break becomes a nuisance and an aggravation... Do you folks agree with that or not?

Not. "Adult places" tend to have quite roomy parking.

Yes... I know... I wish I could park there sometimes... But my last co. and my actual co. don't allow that at all... :biggrin_25513: And my trailer has a HUGE logo that doesn't go well with those places... :biggrin_25523:

I was shocked to find not just a rollover in the median, but a truck with a burned out sleeper on the side a mile down the road on 287 in Texas.

Who knew that little highway was such a danger zone?

I haven't been driving long enough... Didn't experienced the "old" HOS... between 1962 and 2003... I heard drivers saying those were much more flexible than what we have now...
