My dispatcher said, I can pull this load with out having a hazmat endorsement on my license, because it was class 9
un2211, since I don't have an hazmat endorsement I really didn't want to Pull that load.
The load was going to scale out 42,000 pounds, of this stuff.

so, my question is, do I need a hazmat endorsement to pull this load?

Class 9 Hazardous Materials are defined as "any Miscellaneous Hazardous substances that do not fall into the other categories "

If is a HAZMAT And it requires a placarding ,,also any driver transporting hazardous material to have in his possession a Hazardous Materials book of regulations as well as a HAZMAT endorsement on the drivers CDL..Make a note of what your dispatcher told you ,,name, date time and all other info about the load,,if you get fired you can file a compliant with the Federal DOT,

I have my hazmat license one good way to help you out is when you go in to pu load find out from shipper if this load has manifest papers and does the load has to be placard they will let you know, one big red flag is if the load need to be placard you need a hazmat endorsement to pull it

This is what I have found...

    http://www.phmsa.dot.gov/portal/sit...toid=e29c0f92ddbc2310VgnVCM1000001ecb7898RCRD

It would appear your dispatcher is correct.

Yeppers I used to pull class 9 for a construction company and had a few DOT try writing us up but a phone call and it was taken care of and tossed before we left the scale. I had my Hazmats since i also pulled propane but other driver did not. After that all our refers had a paper in the folder so proof was with the trucks.

Killer Said I had the same experience last week was given the same load 2211 hazmat category 9 .I had to deliver it frm IL to TX n was 44,000 pounds whereby it turned to be overweight at sterling axles.I told my dispatcher if I can return the load for a reload,he refused. He told me I'm good to go but I told him I don't have Hazmat endorsement. He said I don't need Hazmat endorsement.I stood with my feet n said no! I'm hauling the load to the warehouse n drop it.The funny part is I escaped the scale but stopped by the cop.I said a quick prayer n spoke to him nicely he did not even ask for the BOL I was sooo scared!I refused to haul the load.My question is do I need Hazmat endorsement for hauling 2211 class/category 9?
