Actually that's exactly how CSA works, but not all BASICs. Most scores are divided by the total of relevant inspections, clean inspections are relevant inspections. So in fact yes, clean inspections do bring the score down. Google "CSA methodology" if you don't believe me, all the math is in there.
does this count as a passed inspection?

your pass/fail percentage is is a big part of what makes up your score. like me i have only had a few official dot inspections over the the last couple years iv gotten a clean inspection every time but get hit with a couple bad inspections it would put my percentile down to %50. where if you had 25 passed inspections and fail 2 you would still have 92% passed. your % of violations to passed inspections is what can trigger a in office dot audit.
and no im not seeking out dot inspections. the area's i run is almost all spot inspections and mostly portable scales. they normally choose other people besides me to grab and pull in. but if im going to get pulled in and there is nothing wrong with my truck it would be nice to have a clean inspection on my csa to show for it. but at the end of the day im happy not being inspected at all.
the cop was polite and friendly. i know he pulled me in because i looked heavy i had a load of crushed rock heading for a concrete plant, that material is lighter by volume than say a road gravel. he pulled out right behind me on the highway followed me for a bit pulled up next to me and was looking at my load on my trailer then pulled back behind me and pulled me over then took me up to the scale. by the time he had my steers and my drives weighted he could tell he wasn't getting any easy tickets out of me and was in a hurry to get me out of there, at the end of the day i am happy with that. -
our score hasn't gone down in 8 months that i've been here. and we get quite a few inspections. we average about 1 a month for hos violations.
guess we're an exception to the CSA methology. -

Nobody cares about CSA anymore. Insurance companies no longer use CSA as a guide to how safe you are. Unless you are involved in a fatal accident, don't worry about an inspection when you go above any thresholds. Look at the safer system website sometime. There are companies with 60% OOS that are still operating.

I stated it would be nice if they counted it as a truck inspection, but knew that it would not be.
every time In the past that i have been pulled over on the highway and lead somewhere for inspection they have done additional inspections besides just weight.
