Last week I was in Indiana/ Illinois rt 41 if I rember , any way a big old dodge pick up come blasting around me as I was approaching the construction limit sign where it was about to shut down to one lane , and I had slowed before the sign he thought he was hot stuff blasting past me , think he was a big truck wanna b ,any way turns out a state patrol was hiding inside the barrels and proceed to scoot out and "follow" him as soon as the barells allowed two lanes again seen these funny flashing things and seemed like the police wanted to have a word with them , he may have even given him the " leave more space" ticket along with a speed ? I do TRY to follow the limits , just been lucky too many times not too.......

I forget where I was but they had an suv sitting on shoulder with hood up looking like it was broke down with camera and stuff mounted under the hood. I like the idea, too many people go too fast especially when. They work so close tot he road.

Illinois doesn't care if workers are present or not. If it is a work zone, the reduced speed limit and double fines are in effect. They DO like to work hard in some of these work zones...the state is broke and needs the revenue. They aren't always there, but they are there often enough that a person would be foolish to get in a hurry going through there. Not only that, but as a guy who sometimes delivers rock and other aggregates to these sites, I appreciate those who slow down and pay attention to the signs. When it says "Trucks Use Left Lane" and the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph, that means it doesn't matter if you are governed at 64.5 mph and on e-logs trying to make up time because you can't run the speed limit on the open highway, slow your ##### down to 55 mph and get in that left lane. If the speed limit drops to 45 mph, it is usually because they are working in that immediate area and trucks are going to be entering & exiting...so slow your ##### down to 45 and pay attention.

And one other thing, when you're losing a lane and traffic starts to slow, don't create a rolling road block with the truck next to you. I've seen 6 mile backups that have 4 or 5 gaps at least 3/4 mile long and widening because of idiots playing traffic cop creating a NEW backup when there is plenty of open road ahead. I'm not saying you should ride the bumper of the guy ahead of you, but stay somewhat with the flow so that you aren't contributing to the problem.
