    Good morning.

My Fiance is looking to go to a Trucking School in Washington. He is American and I am Canadian. The ultimate goal is once he has received his training that he can transfer to a Canadian company and work up here and move across the boarder. Any tips or information anyone could have for us would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Sincerely CanWifey

I have lived and worked as a truck driver in both countries. The first thing I would do is make sure Washington has a reciprocity agreement with whatever province you will be living in. If they do he can just hand in his CDL for a Canadian class 1. If not he would have to take the tests again including finding a truck to test in.

When I moved I had no difficulty getting hired, they were easily able get all the information they needed from the other country. However since he is going to be moving with no experience it wouldn't hurt to check with Canadian companies that he is planning to apply to. Some companies will only hire from a certain list of schools.

Have you guys looked in to Canadian schools, as I'm sure you know, most education is cheaper in Canada than USA and if he plans to work in Canada maybe he would want to go to school there.
