Hey guys.
Was just given a Level II inspection at the Racine Scale (I-94)in Wisconsin. I got written up for probably.. the most ridiclous HOS violation that a driver could be given. This officer just ruined my perfectly clean CSA record and I even pleaded to him and tried to thoroughly explain to him.
I run the same load to Sheboygan Falls, WI and go back to the same railyard(containers).
The violation was:
Record of Duty Status violation; Not legible. Multiple carbon copies on one day makes city/states not legible.
He wrote me up for this violation because he stated that the last five carbon copies had the same exact thing on each page!!!!! I tried to explain to him, "Officer - I run the same load and I terminate the load at the same railyard five days in a row. It is not bleeding through or anything." He refused to hear me out and stated that I do not use something behind each log day to stop it from bleeding through. I even showed him my b.o.l's and J1 tickets from the last five days... still nothing. He wouldnt budge or give me the time of the day. His response was, "next time use something behind each log page so it's legible!" WTF!!!!!!? Im not a rookie driver! Of course I use my laminated sheet to make sure nothing bleeds to the next page.
My company is pissed at me... now that I got this HOS violation on my record and their company score... this absolutely sucks. Man Wisconsin DOT are so painful to deal with, any driver that I talk too have had nothing but bad experiences at the WI scales. Sigh........ sorry just venting I guess. Oh well.

Sucks. Try writing one day and printing the next day. Should be a noticeable difference.
Cop was just being an a...
Hope your co doesnt stay mad at you.
Good luck.JJKid Thanks this. -
Sounds like your company is just as retarded as the cop if they are mad at YOU.
slim shady, loose_leafs and snowblind Thank this. -
Lol steve - can i blame them? I have been with this company for about two years, they have made some serious strides in terms of their Safety score and we have been nearly perfect in all categories. They're not that mad at me, infact - safety called me in today and explained that he will try to dispute it on DATAQ(fmsca system to get violations removed from the drivers CSA and companys safety score). I'm also pretty ticked at myself that I missed out on a $250 clean inspection bonus that driver get here when they pass an inspection. Darnit!

He probably knew he messed up when you explained to him but was too stubborn to admit it.
Are you saying you have the exact same times on all 5 days?
Either way it is water under the bridge. I know the desire to remain a pure , prestine example of a driver At the same time it is not as serious. You are well below the national average. Ask for a raise and tell them another company offers you 5 cpm more. Then begin to negotiatestevep1977 and icsheeple Thank this. -

He might have spiked you for pattern logging that charge could bring them to term. to run ck. on other days, start or stop at different time each day to stop that from looking like a pattern log. the traffic will stop you from being at same place at same time every day.

I agree with you OP Wisconsin DOT are something else... I'm from Illinois i swear they hate us...The worst is the scale up on I-39 that one that is in the middle of the highway that both NB and SB share... I think every inspection I have had in Wisconsin they make sure they find something...Oh well...
As far as your recored goes like the previous drivers have stated you a WELL below average... I wouldn't worry about it... Just learn from your simple mistake, thats all you can do... -
