Rings a bell on a recent thread - try a search . . . . I think the answer was yes - for a DOT inspection, the cab can be inspected.

End of the day - if they suspect something, yoou can resist and refuse all you like until they get a search warrant and make you wait - then search.

What were the circumstances?

 

Yes!!! Either the easy way or the heard way it is up to you. If you refuse and they really want to they just make you wait. I did not have anything nor did I do anything wrong but because the dog barked that was enough reason for them to hold me for 6 hr.

 

Your dog or a K-9 unit? Sounds like there's a bit more to the story.

 

I thought they ruled that a k9 barking doesn't hold anything anymore?

 

Some police K-9's bark to alert, some sit, some paw at the door - it depends on the dog. If the dog alerted according to that particular dog's training and habit, then yeah, they can pop in and take a look around without a warrant.

Sounds like it doesn't it.An officer searched my trk and my dog was barking and showing her teeth,she was just protecting her home.Anyway officer politely asked me to remove my dog,I did, he searched and on my way in less then 15 minutes.But if it was a k9 barking you bet the officer has every right to search no matter how long it takes.

 

I had a cop during a stop jump up on my Driver side and purposely 'trip' after opening the door so he could put his hands on my bag to feel for guns drugs etc in the bag. Not kidding.

 

At one of the loading racks they search our cabs. Just simple look around.

I wouldn't stop a dot officer doing it, better to let him do it and get on down the road instead of making a big deal about it.
