That's funny that they have to take a class and get certified because the last time I looked they go to a medical school for years, go work as an intern for a couple more and sit taking exams to gain the right to practice medicine but they have to have a special class to give a phsyical which is pretty much something a nurse can do, a PA who isn't a doctor can do and even chiropractic can do all to judge someone about if they are qualified to drive by a basic and superficial physical.

It makes no sense why this crap happens.

    Puppage Thanks this.

Our government can do what they want because most people don't vote, in Indiana it's super easy to prevote

but this is a good law, it keeps "chiropractors" from giving a real unhealthy fat slob a 2 year card.

Sounds like someone is not going to get a rubber stamp anymore!

The doctor has to be registered with DOT as certified. If he is not then your medical exam will not be valid. If you do renew your medical card with a registered DOT MD, then your CDL will be downgraded to a car license.

Once you get your exam by a registered Dr. be sure to contact the OH state DMV and fax them a copy of your medical card.

If you don't register a valid medical card before it expires, they can and will downgrade the commercial license to a regular license. As far as taking card to the dmv, it should be free to register the medical card at the dmv. It is in my state.

To add to this, you can't let it lapse because states can force you to go through the entire licensing process for your cdl again no matter how long you had it.

I was warned to keep my physical up to date no matter if I drive or not because I would have to go through the process all over again.
