Don't know if it falls the privacy laws but if a dot wanted to see additional stuff im going to show him to prevent any longer stay then is necessary and arguing.The yrs ive been driving I have never been asked to see anything other then the usual paperwork.

 

No. Not without a warrant or a subpoena in order to produce the same.

The 5 you listed is / are the mandatory items a commercial vehicle driver must produce upon demand when asked by any LE official.

CDL, log book, medical card, registration and permits, in addition to your manifest / BOL if you are loaded.

Keep in mind, they can ask all they want and it's at your discretion to comply. In some cases, this may helpful producing them. In others, perhaps not.

I was in a motel last weekend and thus showed off duty on my logs, I figured for a gap that large the probability of them wanting to see what I was doing would be high so I asked for a receipt just in case. As for fuel I was always under the impression you needed to have receipts seeing as fueling is a required part of the job, therefore you could be asked to show proof where you were.

Not sure any of that is required but its no bother to me so why not have it.

 

ok I see why you want to know and its a great question.I guess I would call FMCSA for your state and ask them.Did your friend have all the receipts for the trooper?

 

I got popped in Mn. last year. Started with me exceeding kingpin law for Mn.
He's out at my trk. and asks for my logbook reg. etc.
He then sees my folder in the drivers side pouch. He asks what's in there. My paperwork for my book keeper I state.
Well he takes it inside with him.
He was trying to find fuel receipts/ scale tickets or anything with a time stamp to try and hang me for the last 8 days.
So word of warning, keep that stuff out of plain sight.
