FMCSA is conducting a survey on driver harassment by companies using Elogs. FMCSA is taking comments on this harassment for the next 30 days so drivers if you have something to say then post a comment with the FMCSA. This will do more good then whining to your fellow driver about this issue. Below is the information to where and how to post or call. Just copy and paste the link into your browser.

Thruout the yrs I have done my duty as a driver and left comments, ive emailed, wrote letters and many drivers have done the same.Bottom line is FMCSA is going to do what they want and no drivers will change that. There decisions are set in stone.
blairandgretchen, bigdogpile, Stump and 5 others Thank this. -
"FMCSA announces the availability of a new report: Attitudes of Truck Drivers and Carriers on the Use of Electronic Logging Devices and Driver Harassment.
Just try to find it. Google reports it is available here in .pdf form: https://www.federalregister.gov/public-inspection
AFAICT from that page, the FMCSA does not even exist.
An accumulation of recent experience suggests management of the FMCSA website has been turned over to the struggling 3rd graders who made $300M preventing people from enrolling in the ACA. -
Your poll did not include the options that applied to me.
1 - My company does not use elogs to harass me (not denying it probably happens)
2 - Even if they did, a poll about the issue would do little.
Pattyj is correct. The FMCSA will do as they please, end of story.
On a brighter note - Roy Blunt, from MO, now has some oversight over the FMCSA, and has a reasonably positive track record on trucking issues, so . . . so . . . . sew your pants.
However, if I feel like it later, I'll go in and complete the survey and lie through my teeth about how my company forces me to slave away for little pay and no sleep all because of that dastardly box on the dash.Last edited: Nov 13, 2014
Mr.X, pattyj, Steeleandsonfarms and 1 other person Thank this. -
This is the 3rd Company I have worked for with Elogs.
I have yet to be harassed.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
Weener drivers ain't smart enough to do stuff like tell the FMCSA how they're getting' screwed...
Stump Thanks this. -
FMCSA will accomplish their agenda no matter what. They already proved that by implementing the new HOS rules before the studies were completed. All I can hope for is they regulate it to the point where capacity is reduced so far, by reduced productivity and drivers leaving the seat, that it gets to a point where some stuff doesn't get delivered ... should be easy to get huge rates then ...
-
Rates are already on the way up, and with gubbermint intervention should continue up for some time.
-
Elogs don't create harassment, the stupid 14 hour rule does. If I need to take a cat nap it shouldn't count against my available working hours.
Besides, if my company expected me to go the minute my elog said I had hours (and I didn't already want to go -- which is rare), I could just edit in on-duty time to necessitate a longer break.Mr.X Thanks this. -
