He must not have known it. At least now he knows he's over due for the audit and can prepare for it.

Let the cops do their job. There is no need to squeal. How long do you really think he is going to get away with it anyway? They randomly punch in your dot number when you go through a scale also, just for a quick check if they should haul you in or not. Once they see the oos and fail to do new entrant audit, also with 90+ percentile, you can bet that truck will be immediately impounded.
-
Maybe you should put DOT number out here. New entrant. Makes difference number of inspections and what violations were for. One inspection by DOT with a hard on? Where driver/DOT had attitude?
-
You did the right thing, spoke to someone on the truck, told about the OOS. A lot better to take care of at TS rather than pulled over somewhere.

13 inspections. Shows 1 truck, 1 driver but then inspections show 4 different tractor plates so this is at least 4 tractor operation. HOS violations in August, Sept, October this year. Gap then goes back to 2013. Most drivers don't drive more than one truck at time.
Yeah, I'd say driver needs to be alerted. Would've looked to see plate on tractor and whether one of the 4 tagged for the HOS, equipment inspections.
Driver could be O/O, just leased on and clean as a whistle, heading for train wreck with DOT... at next meet and greet. -

It says they have insurance on file. My only issue would be if they were involved in a wreck and hurt somebody, would that insurance pay whoever was hurt? -
Yes, and driver (possible O/O) may be unaware...
Under Motor Carrier Details, in big red letters, "THIS CARRIER IS OUT OF SERVICE."
No answer at listed phone number, goes to voicemail. Just a computer-type msg saying not available. -
The LP on the inspections, found that a bit odd as well.
I didn't look that close though.
Also remember the pic I took its a different LP also.
I didn't find it in any of the inspections.
But again didn't look that deep, looked at the first 3 or 4.
It's possible there may be 3/4 truck's.
As I understand it (and correct me if I'm wrong)
The # Trucks is tied to the MCS150, which only has to be updated biannualy. -
Well, you did the right thing and let driver know. You know, had never occurred to me that you could tie in with a scumbag outfit and end up in lots of hot water through no fault of your own other than serious lack of due diligence.
Oh, my, my... Driver, beware!!
Wondering if trailer's loaded or empty, too. Can you imagine stopped at scale with no authority, company OOS. Only way home a tow? $3-$4/mile or more...
What do you do with load if YOUR trailer and YOU can't move?
Me? If not my trailer, putting myself 'Off-Duty-Driving' and bobtail away...
