Was sitting at the Loves in Grants NM.

Waiting for the last few minutes to go by (30 min break).
Look over at the Truck next to me punch in the DOT Number.
    https://csa.fmcsa.dot.gov/
    Find this
U.S. DOT# xxxxxxx is currently under an Out-of-Service order from FMCSA and shall not operate. Out-of-Service Reason: New Entrant Revoked - Refusal of Audit/No Contact.

I can put it (DOT#) out here, although I don't see a reason too.
Horrible safety record 1 Truck 1 Driver (even though there were 3 people in the truck).
Since he was at the Loves it's unlikely he knew or cared about the OOS Order from FMCSA.
    I guess I don't really care. I left before he/they did.

    Just curious.
    What does this mean exactly?
Guess Shippers/Brokers don't check for stuff like that? Safer says out of Service since 11/07/14

You play one of our favorite games too, I see. Pull a random DOT number from a passing truck and check it out.

Moral conundrum - do you call state police/DOT and have them come and impound him - cut his income for his family . . .

    Or find out later he's rear ended a church van and killed 6 kids, while he's texting/falling asleep/drinking . . .

Good find - we've found some with the CSA in the red on all levels, but never an OOS.

    Balakov100 Thanks this.

You do the right thing. There's a reason for the OOS order. Those are the guys that make us all look bad and cause a lot of grief for us.

Does he even know DOT tried to contact him for an audit? Maybe not.

Lots of drivers out there right now OOS and don't know it because they don't know their medical card has to be registered with their CDL.

I wouldn't have reported the guy and maybe screwed up his life for something he's not aware of. New entrant; probably hasn't been home to check his mail.

I know a driver with his own authority that was put OOS during an audit at his house where he keeps his records. Reason : Wasn't doing a random drug test.
He was put back in service after he put his name on a random drug test list with some dump truck company near his house.

Not anyone's problem but his. This industry has gone to hell in a hand basket because of people who make it a point to disregard everything. And they give the ATA, PATT, CRASH, and every other special interest group ammunition to screw with the rest of us.

i would think they would get shut down at the first scale they crossed, if they cross any. althouh, being on teh west side of the country. you'd be going a LONG ways to bypass a scale.

    China, he's right.

If you're going to go out on your own, the resorces are all there to stay in compliance. Driver/owner negligence isn't an excuse. Drug consortiums must be joined, audits must be completed. As Bakalov said - he's already a bad actor as the CSA points out, so it's not like this is a small oversight - it's a pattern.

Same could be said for bad surgeons - they still have to make a living right? At the expense of others? I think not.

I would walk over and tell him about it! Could be a driver that doesn't realize the truck is OOS and subsequently no longer insured, meaning if he does hit that church bus, then the victims will get no more help with medical bills than whatever money that driver has in the bank!
Could be an owner operator that got fed up with shty arrogant drivers and missed an audit while he was on the road. Could be a million different scenarios that you will never know by just glancing over at the truck in a truck stop.

    Thought about that..
How would one go about contacting DOT?

    Unsafe Driving 95 Percentile
    HOS 99 Percentile
    Vehicle Maint. 96 Percentile.

I did tell him..Didn't go up to him and say anything. But took a picture of the Truck, got back in mine, sitting there eating one of the guys comes up asks me why I took a picture of the Truck.
    Didn't even answer him.
Told him....You know your DOT # is Shut down.
    'Huh which one'
Um...the one on the side of the truck.
    'Oh I'll tell him, thanks.'

    joseph1135 Thanks this.
