The officer is correct, it is illegal to be in the cab, and if you have it in/on your trailer, you will need a BOL for it, and permits to haul alcohol

If you were off duty, and using the truck for personal conveyance, alcohol is allowed to be transported in the cab. Here's the link:

Gotcha. That makes sense. Thanks for the link as well. Beer still goes in the trailer though.

Isn't personal conveyance loophole governed by the company and its policies and not by the FMCSA?

In my case getting the wine, I was bobtailing personal use. The original poster was most likely on duty what we call portal to portal. If you are on duty picking them up then it stands to reason you'd be on duty dropping them off. Getting beer in the interim would be against the regulations I say.

Guess the beer I had in El Paso at the Walmart parking lot makes me busted
Skate-Board Thanks this. -
Yeah. I'm on duty from the time we leave the hotel in the morning until we arrive at the hotel when the work day is finished. New rule is we get to hotel, check in, etc., then take a quick run back out to the store. More hassle for sure but this isn't something I can afford to mess around with.
Big Don Thanks this. -
Maybe re evaluating your alcohol intake is something you could do. It's a slippery slope if you don't keep it in check. Just because your peers drink doesn't mean you should.
Me personally I abhor beer I think it's gross- I get to the point with a shot of jack. -
