I only say that because he said he worked there and quit, And I know you can "red tag" a truck at reddaway and refuse to drive it..

Telling the DRIVER to fix the problems himself is asinine. People get paid for that stuff. And companies are required to supply D.O.T. spec'd trucks. If anyone is going to work on a truck for free....why don't you go over there and fix it for him. Ridiculousness some times!
road_runner and Shaggy Thank this. -
teqntexas, joseph1135 and Semi-Truculent Hamish Thank this.

Point being that if you are too lazy to fix the minor stuff you will be making Abe type videos complaining on how much you are sitting waiting for repairs.icsheeple, joseph1135, MJ1657 and 1 other person Thank this. -

So back to my OP. Corporate policy bans us from performing any form of maintenance on our vehicles (aside from toping off our fluids during our pretrip. So no changing lights or other stated parts. The reason why I am not allowed to turn in the truck is because we are short on them.
My my additional question would be if any of my write-ups are OOS violations or does my management have a point when they say that they will take care of it later?
Am I required to have all marker lights working?
Airhorn still works, do I need an additional electric? -
They might let you roll without marker lights..turn signal not working and bald tires is automatic OOS until repairs are made ..all your other things are not OOS *in the green book* but any officer can put you OOS for any of them if he wants to.A pocket FMCSA book should be with you at all times.it's your trucker bible..get one and read it..
teqntexas and road_runner Thank this. -
If you have a horn you are good to go either air or electric but you do not need both.
Bald tires are OOS violations.
If they are that short on trucks, talk to the management and they will probably give you the OK to fix the minor stuff to keep the truck rolling. Tell them you will document what ever you fix so that the shop can check the repairs when you have time to get into one.
As for the tires, have them send a roadside repair truck while you are on your 10. Problem solved. Now if they can not afford to pay for new tires then you need a new job.road_runner Thanks this. -
At least get the signal light fixed.joseph1135, icsheeple and road_runner Thank this. -
