We have a tank of off road fuel to put in the reefers and other off road equipment like lifts and loaders.
When you fuel at a truckstop with off road fuel pumps, you can save paying the road use tax for reefer fuel buy filling that out of the dyed fuel pump. You can apply for a refund on road use taxes paid for off road usage.
The Petro at Racine, WI had that available.DrtyDiesel and "semi" retired Thank this. -
As a fuel hauler I can confirm this, there is ZERO difference in the fuel, just one being taxed and the other isn't.
I always thought Diesel was naturally green, but in reality it's clear as water. They dye it a light green color, same as gasoline, to show it's on highway use. At the rack when we load there is a little injector on each loading pipe, it sprays in a little red dye every 4-5 seconds. Stuff looks like candy apple red. I wondered how you got red dye and clear ULSD from the same pipe, then found out when you load Dyed diesel the last 100 gallons is loaded as clear, that way it washes out the dye from the pipe for the next guy who might be getting just clear diesel. Pretty awesome stuffwore out, icsheeple, "semi" retired and 2 others Thank this. -
