just bought a new truck ... not ready to go on the road just yet ... I would like to drive it back and forth between my parking lot and my mechanic ... I have liability insurance and title in my name so far ... do I need to have IRP plates to do this? what are my options so that I can legal drive back and forth .. log book needed?

As long as you are insured should be ok, just be sure and put Not For Hire on the doors.

No log book needed for under 100 miles.

Folks you are telling the driver its OK to drive an UNREGISTERED vehicle on a roadway. Go check with your local dmv they may have a temporary plate you can purchase. Now with that said many of us have done whwt our asking with out tags. But its not legal. If you get caught your screwed

The IRP office will sell you a (hunter) paper tag to use while driving to get everything in order.
