Does anyone know how to find an orthopedic surgeon or physiatrist for the SPE who is familiar with its requirements? I've had the physical but am hitting a brick wall
trying to find a specialist for the SPE. I need it cause I'm missing a few digits. The examining doctor couldn't recommend anyone and I've called the relevant agencies/driving schools with absolutely no luck.

I hear you on schools not knowing what to do if you need anything other than a CDL with no restrictions.
I had to get an eye sight waiver to get my medical card. The school said I could get one but did not know what had to be done I had to do it on my own.

For you I would first call FMCSA think it was the medical dept. and tell them want you need and maybe they can point you in the right direction. Being they have Dr.’s just for medical cards they may have the Dr. you need to see?

They my tell you to check with your state DMV. You can try and check the states DMV web site but if like my state it did not list everything I needed so you’re better off calling the main state DMV office CDL div. to see if they can help.

I just hope you make out better than I did as the waiver I got restricts me to driving intrastate (my state only) for 3 years.
Let us know how you make out.
    Good luck

Thanks for the replies-FMCSA supplies a list of registered examiners. That's how I found mine. To locate a specialist you're basically on
your own. After I called a lot a ton of offices I finally found an examiner working out of a local hospital who does SPE. He was recommended
    by an orthotic/prostheticist(sp?)
