Can't believe I actually missed this, but I see where your problem is. You went to an ME while you were still alive. An ME is actually a Medical Examiner that is used in investigating deaths. Postmortems or autopsies.

You need to go to a doctor who actually interacts with LIVING patients!:biggrin_25525:

OK,ok, ok I know I'm being a smart arse here. Just thought you could use a chuckle. . .:biggrin_25523:

Read what i posted again, go to your doc and ask them if they accept the home study thingy.

do not worry about what the dot doc accepts, read what I posted.

Dot Doc is the one who makes the decision. My pcp does not think I need the test and only ordered it because I need my job. It will be evaluated and scored by a sleep study doctor, but the DOT doc is the one who has to sign off on it.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your height and weight? Not trying to be personal just trying to gauge.

i am overweight and have had a double bypass. I had to jump through the hoop of a stress test this last re-certification. I certainly don't want a freaking sleep study to be forced upon me this year.

I am 6'1" and 321#'s. I know my BMI is borderline if not over. My last examiner asks me if I had high blood pressure after the nurse took a reading of 120/77 and I said NO, he said yes you do, I said no I don't it is 120/77 then he said well you take medication to control it and I told the jerk off that is not the question you asked.

There are a lot of them that play games.

Also, I was always under the impression that a doc that a company uses especial a larger company that send a lot of business their way would be more inclined to make the lines a little fuzzy on some such things.

Doctor's personalities run the gamut just like every other profession/job/whatever. Some of them seem to be on total ego trips. Some of them are educated idiots. Some of them are on drugs. Of course MOST of them are just well educated, well intentioned folks trying to make an extraordinarily good living, and working hours as long as our are in the trucking industry.

But you are certainly going to run into your share of jerks throughout the entire medical industry.

If you are male your neck can't be over 17 inches, female 15 1/2 inches if I remember correctly.

I wouldn't wait around too long in making a decision. The 3 month card I got for the scam, same thing, BMI borderline and neck size, no snoring, no high blood pressure, etc. had as part of the order that I had to show 30 days of actual use of the machine if diagnosed BEFORE the 3 month expiration date of the card. Mind you, the chubby bastad wouldn't actually ORDER the study, he left it up to my family Dr. to do that. She was reluctant because she thought it was a scam as well. My employer was really no help even though my insurance kicked in by my 45th day, because it wasn't "medically necessary" so they weren't going to pay for it and the corporate office wouldn't let me go anywhere else for my DOT nor just use the already self certified card that still had 14 months left on in my wallet.

I decided to find a different job because I've known 10 drivers that have been ordered to have sleep studies and all 10 of them, of course were diagnosed with sleep apnea.
When thinking about looking for a new job, what clinic do you use is one of the first questions I have in my interview of them.

This happened at Occu Health part of Toledo Hospital system, Pro Medica , which I've had issues with before. About 15 years ago I had to go there for a DOT and the elevator was out of order. So I walk up to the third floor on the stairs and check in. Wouldn't you know it, they took me right back and took my BP... I told them give me a few minutes because I just walked up three flights of stairs... Nope, that was my BP, gave me a three month card, told me I needed BP medicine, follow up with family Dr. Go to family Dr. and she tells me I don't have high BP. Duh! I couldn't calm myself down enough after they told me I'd only get a three month card to get my BP down to normal, character flaw ;) That company stopped using that clinic because they started hitting the drivers with the sleep apnea crap a few years ago and it hasn't gotten better. It seems the bigger clinics, those attached to bigger "health systems" are trying to cover their arses in any way they can which is putting many folks livelihood in jeopardy for no reason many times. I've heard the clinics attached to St. Lukes Hospital in Maumee are hitting the sleep apnea crap hard too.
