Could you pull them in the states? Exactly the same as a 28ft pup set up, but with 53ft trailers instead. Having been to Canada, you see them quite often, especially in the prairies. I know it isn't done here because it's not practical with our lower weight limit, but is their regulation against it? Just curious. Probably varies state to state.
Two 53ft trailers?

A few states allow two 53' trailers on the interstate/turnpikes. Would hate to see the mess they would make being pulled across wyoming in the wind.

I don't think I've ever seen two 53'. Two 48' yes, two 53' might be a bit much.

LCV types include:
- Triples: Three 28.5 ft (8.7 m) trailers; maximum weight up to 129,000 lb (59,000 kg).
- Turnpike Doubles: Two 48 ft (14.6 m) trailers; maximum weight up to 147,000 lb (67,000 kg)
- Rocky Mountain Doubles: One 40-to-53 ft (12.2-to-16.2 m) trailer (though usually no more than 48 ft or 14.6 m) and one 28.5 ft (8.7 m) trailer (known as a "pup"); maximum weight up to 129,000 lb (59,000 kg)
- In Canada, a Turnpike Double is two 53 ft (16.2 m) trailers, and a Rocky Mountain Double is a 50 ft (15.2 m) trailer with a 24 ft (7.3 m) "pup". Ontario Canada has weather restrictions for LCV operation

The regulations vary state to state...North Dakota used to allow it, probably still does. Check your Motor Carrier's Atlas, it will have all the current regs.

Turnpike Doubles in states that allow LCV's are usually restricted to toll roads and turnpikes. Double 53's are pretty common along the I-90 corridor.
The AAA link posted earlier is not accurate.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -

I remember some years back in NYS some people wanted to make 48' triples legal. It's scary enough trying to pass those triple ups/fedex/Estes triples in a crosswind.Trucker61016 and joseph1135 Thank this.
