Here's a few ideas to submit for people submitting comments.

    1. (I can't remember if it was 2012 or 2013 but,) Only .2% of all accidents went over their liability limit.

    2. A lot of trucking companies have a higher minimum than the Federal requirement. (i.e. Auto Transporters have to carry 1 Million in liability.)

    3. All the big trucking companies that are pushing this, ARE self insured, this won't cost them a dime.

    4. Not only will this hurt small trucking companies, but also the small repair shops, tire shops, fuel stops, etc that the small company trucks support.

Also write or call your congressman and tell them about this, maybe they can step up and put a stop to this. Here's a link that can help you get to your representatives. http://www.fightingfortruckers.com/

There's part of me that supports this, because of the scumbag outfits out here that give us all a bad rap. But there's a lot more good hard working people out here that can't handle it. It's like throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Agreed. Don't know how feasible it is, but the ideal thing imo would be putting the CSA program to some good use, and when a company's scores reach a certain percentile, requiring that company to be insured at the higher level.

I like that idea. Bad actors that push and threaten would be penalized......good idea if the threshold is set right.

Well said! At the end of the day this is nothing more than a money game started by folks who have something to gain from this. While most companies already carry the insurance, it's the principle behind why this bill was introduced that has me against it. Do not be disillusioned into believing this will hurt scum trucking companies. Don't forget most of these bad companies already pay astounding rates because of accident history and CSA scores, I really doubt this will change anything.

It is funny how trucking companies MUST carry 750k in liability and POV only need 25k in most states. Why are they not required to carry enough to cover the cost of our trucks when they are the cause of most of the accidents?

It's all to force out the little guy, I think it was the Transportation Alliance group who came out today and basically said they want the insurance hiked up to put the small companies out of business, yet all the members of this group are self insured.

We need to be careful, if this does go through, the insurance companies need the assets to cover these policies, it may be tough or impossible to even get insurance.

Yeah, I brought that up with a few people I had on the phone today, these anti-truck activists groups better be careful, it would suck if we got their insurance raised to $500,000 to cover the trucks they drive around, you know, since they CAUSE 78% of the accidents.

If you can't make a comment to the FMCSA, and don't want to write your congressman, at least pick up the phone and call them, don't yell or say threatening things, just give them facts as to why this won't work and how much it's going to cost the Tax payers, who voted these people into office. DO they want to get the phone calls when milk goes to $10 a gallon and bread is $10, You bet they don't want those phone calls.
