I'm currently working for Home City Ice in illinois to pay my bills until I get married in a couple months. Afterwards I plan on going to a CDL Program and trying to get a job out of state, somewhere nicer and warmer. However, last week on a state highway while I was driving at work to a nearby town, a woman pulled out in front of me with no warning and I hit her passenger side at 50 mph. It was raining and I lost control and rolled the straight truck on its side. Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt, I'm currently on restrictions while I get my back healed up so I can get back to work. My main concern that has me paranoid, is how this accident will affect my ability to get a job after I get my Class A CDL. The accident was not my fault, the other driver was ticketed. I just requested a copy of the crash report so I have future proof of that as well. I just was hoping somebody could shed some light on how this will make me look to any potential company I go to work for once I do have my Class A. I should add that I recieved a written warning for an expired plate on the truck (company's fault) but the registration was up-to-date. Any words to ease my mind would be greatly appreciated :biggrin_25524::biggrin_2552:

(I'm hoping I posted this in the right section)

Oh my God nobody will ever hire you!!!! Ever!!!!!!!
    Blah!

You'll need an accident report to show perspective employers, but you'll be just fine considering you were not at fault. Good luck on the recuperation and we will see you out here soon. Keep your head up.

You should be fine,as long as you dont have too many non preventable,as this will make the insurance companies to looked at u,as a non defensive driver.

Must be a state thing because if my plate was expired, my registration is not up to date.

Don't worry about the accident, it won't show up, you don't have a CDl, didn't get a ticket and any litigation out of it will be handled by the insurance companies.

Some companies might give you a hard time about it. Not all.

Just keep your mouth shut. It won't show up anywhere on your driving record. I have to get a certified driving record for myself once a year. Last year I had the same accident as you. Person didn't look, pulled out and I hit him in the drivers side. It's not on my record.

If want to be sure just go to the DMV and spend 10-15 bucks for a MVR before you start applying. If it ain't on there no need to say anything.

Thanks everybody for the information and reassurance. I can sleep a little better knowing I can still pursue a career that I really enjoy

What happened is the plate was never changed apparently to reflect new registration or somethin akin to that. The truck had up to date registration papers in the cab, which the officer had to wait to get to until they rolled the truck back over. I'm not sure exactly what went wrong with the plate/registration though. Sometimes Home City Ice make some stupid mistakes and decisions

I never did like this preventable/nonpreventable crap the the industry likes to use. it make it seem like no matter who is at fault, the driver of the truck is always in the wrong, and ive been at one company where a driver I personally know got into a deer collision and still got a preventable, even though that company's policy was "hit the deer, don't swerve". Just shove the blame onto your driver even though it was the fault of the other person, just to please the ambulance-chasers.
