I know its been the standard that when going off-duty for the day, that when you return to duty regardless of the lenght of off-duty time your log would start again at the same location you went off-duty. but I can't find the specific reg/verbage in the FMCSR. Does anyone know where I can fine this info???

There have been cases where I have returned to duty at a different location then I went off duty.

Due to different employment situations you may not return to spot where you went off duty. That is why there is no specific language as such in regulation.

When I went on/off duty at different locations I made a notation on the log page somewhere of why it happened.
DOT has checked my book nothing was said about it.

There is no requirement to begin any on-duty status at the same location as your previous on-duty status ended. Nor is there any requirement on U.S. logs to show anything in your log's remarks, even if the CMV was used for personal conveyance. If any enforcement officer wants to know about any (perceived) discrepancy, they'll ask.

    Maverick519 Thanks this.
