Rolled past the coop coming into Oklahoma out of Texas on 40. Sign says closed but I noticed 2 camera flashes. One before the ramp and one after I passed the ramp. What's that all about?

Not sure but I'm thinking they take your picture that includes your DOT number and truck number. When other scales check your book they use that to help determine if your honest. I have first hand knowledge of a pic taken in Colorado used by the state of Idaho

I suspect a lot of scales all over the country do this then forward or share the info with other scales. Then when a truck like mine without a prepass slow rolls over the next scale they can reference the time mark from last scale and determine if the driver actually did a the distance with a legit 10 hours off.
rachi and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
utah, washington, oregon take pics too.
even the cars get snapped.
i haven't had a problem with verification though. -
seems to me they have the information but only really pull it up if you get pulled for an inspection
NavigatorWife and scottied67 Thank this. -
Il/WI on i90/i39 does that too. I thought it was a high tech $500,000 seat belt check

How Does a Florida Weigh Station Work?: https://youtu.be/dkG4H2ZS_TE
I know this is Florida but I'm sure a lot of other states have this type of technologyscottied67 Thanks this. -
My carrier is supposed to be on the 'hot list' for high percentage pull ins. Don't have prepass so have to go into every open scale. Always get waved through even this load which is bulk hazmat. Call me crazy but I think they have my truck flagged as a habitual legal runner lol.
DrtyDiesel and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
If the scales are closed I make sure to run the left lane to avoid the camera.
scottied67 and MJ1657 Thank this. -
NavigatorWife Thanks this.
