So 4 years ago I made a huge mistake and got behind the wheel after 3 beers. I was young and didn't realize the risk I had put myself in. Long story short I was working with JB Hunt at the time and lost my job. Recently I have been working with a local county driving jet vac trucks and water trucks no tractor trailer since I've lost my job with JB Hunt.
I'm certain you guys/girls read a ton of poor me DUI stuff and it is played out. But I really enjoyed the trucking industry and miss the brother hood out on the road. I've had bad experiences but most were good.
Any how I was wondering if anyone could guide me in the right direction to get behind the wheel once again. I live in the Baltimore Maryland area. I've tried a few companies but they all say 5 years does anyone know of companies that will take someone 3-4 years removed from the DUI? This is my only violation and it turned out to be my most severe.
It was a huge lesson to learn and a mistake I'll never make again.

Thanks for any help that I can get.

Good luck out on the road and all be safe.

    mje Thanks this.

People were always nice to me and helpful on the road when I had questions. But regardless that's not the point of the thread it's about finding helpful ideas to get back on the road.

It looks as though you are getting close to the 5 year mark. Some companies the minimums are 7 years or 10 years. Some companies say never. Keep on trying and plugging away.

In the mean time, make sure that your MVR and employment record is clean. Also, get yourself a complete D.O.T. physical, on your own dime, with an independent D.O.T. certified physician, to be sure that nothing crops up in a company physical. Get as physically fit and healthy as you can get to help yourself with the physical.

    Good luck to you.

God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.!

Trucking, just like any other occupation, has its share of really decent people. SADLY & UNFORTUNATELY, trucking also has its share of backstabbers and liars.

God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.!

I get a DOT physical every year with where I'm working now. Should I still get another from my own Dr?
Excuse my spelling here but Roel just called me and I told them and they said 5 years and they would take me on.
As for my condition I'm in fairly good shape I workout often and for the most part a really healthy eater with a good history of health.

It probably would not be a bad idea to get another physical from your own doctor, make it a really thorough one just to be on the safe side.

Good luck and continued good luck to you.
