ATA which represents mega carriers wants the government to limit all trucks to 65/mph because they conserned about "public safety"
Does it get more hypocritical than this.

I never have driven for swift. I have talked to people who work for them they govern the speed to first save fuel. Second safety. Third they don't trust their divers to follow the law.

It would be one thing to limit a truck to 65-72, but it is another when they degut the truck to save fuel. I think they should be looking at the trucks that have no power going up the sides of mountains and no power to pull a load up it. Nothing like getting behind a truck going 35 in a 70 in my estimation.

Give it time every mega out there will govern at 60-62 to save money on "fuel" and promote "safe driving". Also known as saving big buck$ on insurance at the expense of their driver's sanity and safety.

And the drivers wallet when paid by the mile. You would effectively cut his wages like this too.
You want me to max 65 and average 48 ? No problem, the price is .65 cpm all hub miles with a 500 mile daily guarantee. Now bring what you got.......
Hypocrisy ! Gotta love it!bzinger, Woodys, NavigatorWife and 2 others Thank this. -

If our government wants to pass a law to make the roads safer, then require all vehicles to be capable of running the posted speed limit which should be the same as cars. If that is not satisfactory to our politicians then make cars drive the same speed as trucks. Now cry it's for safety and see how far it gets.

They have been pushing for this for awhile now. FMCSA has announced they will publish the final rule on this late this year. It's coming people.
