    DOT Inspection while armed

September 9th, 2010, 15:15 Hrs., West bound I24, Eddyville, Ky. I was pulled behind the scales for level III inspection (Driver only). I grabbed my logs, bills and permits and went into the building with my .38 on my hip (concealed of course). The Officer and I exchanged our pleasantries and he told me what he wanted to see. I placed my stuff on the counter and keeping my hands on the counter in full view, as instructed by my CCW training officer, informed the inspecting officer "I am armed, and I am licensed to be armed."
He replied, "That's fine as long as you don't shoot me!" With a chuckle I answered that I wasn't PLANNING on shooting ANYONE.
After 15 minutes I left with a good report and was on my way back to the yard.

Derailing? Have you read 99.99% of the threads here, admin? These guys and a gal or two are proud, and have all but stated so when brought to them, of derailing threads. They, however, call it "hijacking" and think it's funny, actually. Heck, it's expected as this is a social place they said.

Politic's govern the taxes we pay, the freedom of our people or diminishing level of such depending on your view. Politics determine who writes the laws that affect our life from birth, to trucking to death. Politics determines our world stance in any area, and is the very "thing" that caused thousands to tell an oppressive king to pack sand thereby forming a free nation, of which the average American has no idea about for a variety of well planned reasons... -End digression-

And you are worried about something that happens here alread in nearly every thread. Really?

Well, anyway, I'll put together a list of the dozens and dozens and dozens of thread hijackings, or "derailing" as you put it, and report them. I'll do it this weekend because documenting them will take some time!

Whether commercial vehicle drivers are allowed to equip themselves with firearms or other means of self-defense is a question that is both important and frequently asked. It is pinned near the top of the forum to be easily accessible to members wanting facts about an issue that has death or incarceration as possible outcomes. Considering the importance of the subject, I see nothing wrong with requesting that this thread remain on topic and letting threads on less serious issues get derailed. As you noted, there are dozens and dozens of threads on the forum that have been hijacked, so I think that picking and choosing our battles is the only sensible option.

If you have additional questions about this issue, feel free to Private Message me. I appreciate the irony that my request to keep the thread on topic has resulted in further off-topic discussion.

What do you do (or would you do) if it was a state that didn't recognize your permit? Fabulous Illinois, for example. Just curious.

Which begs the question, what good is a firearm in that condition?
