I guess he loses both ways huh?

Either he dies and keeps his job... or lives and loses it. I pick the latter.

Well, there are probably 3 times as many truckers who don't carry. The odds would be against them. There is very little crime overall. If you pay attention to your surroundings, that is your major security.

By the way, I doubt the two options are really, you die or you carry a gun. What a life you must have.

Unless you do something retarded around a police officer, nobody is gonna know you have it.
I like that weapon. It is probably the best medium caliber semi-auto pocket pistol I've ever been introduced to. I may have to acquire one of those.

I have a [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. that is way to big to fit in anything but a coat pocket, and, a Beretta 25 that is still a little too large and has minimum knock down abilities.

If I have my pants on I have at my fingertips a [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. that I feel naked without. However, I may retire it for the Kel-Tec.

My life overall is pretty good, thanks. There is not much in the way of violent crime here in Redneckville and I don't feel the need to pack a pistol to go get the mail. Now if I go back out on the road again, that's a different story.

I always paid attention to my surroundings when I was doing OTR in the early 90's. Still, I've got that look that says, "I'm a pushover, rob me now!" I'm not the stereotypical big burly truck driver, which means I have to even things up somehow. I had more than my fair share of situations that scared the hell out of me. Obviously, you've lead a charmed life and never had to deal with all the BS I did when I was on the road--that or you look like someone you don't want to meet in a dark alley. The fact still remains though, I won't let a thug decide what my occupation is or is not going to be.

And as far as "die or carry a gun", was referring to the specific incident that travelfraggle mentioned, where the guy shot someone in self defense. In that case, yes, it was "die or carry a gun"... I'll bet he was glad he chose to carry that day, huh?

I don't fit the image of big burly.

I am only 5'6" about 200 lbs.

Certainly not going to intimidate anyone.

LOL... well you're bigger and burlier than me. My nickname is X-ray... a name I was given because you can practically see right through me--I'm 5'11" and weigh 130 on a good day.

And though now my head is taking on a bit of a greyish tinge, I still don't look my age. I always had a baby face and looked like a teenager--a definite disadvantage in this industry. To most street punks, I probably look like the friggin Bank of America.

Remember

I think if I were faced with a decision where the outcome would be either 12 men judging me or 6 men carrying me.... I would go for the judgement.

Exclamation Historical precedent....

".....Today is a great day for our country. We have achieved the complete and total removal of privately owned firearms from our fair land. Now, We can all feel safe in the knowledge that no one can use a gun to harm another citizen...." Adolf Hitler 1938 Bet you didnt pick that little speech up in your High School history class!
