Actually, you are allowed to carry a weapon where you are legally permitted to carry a weapon, and you are breaking some pretty serious laws if you carry a weapon where your permit is not recognized. There is no such thing as a carry permit that is valid everywhere.
HwyPrsnr and cetanediesel Thank this. -
Well, I'll tell you what gremlin. I'll leave my 45 ACP at home if you are willing to personaly pay for an armed security guard to travel with me at all times to ensure my protection. How does that sound? Wether an individual decides to carry a firearm legaly or not, it does not and will not effect you. I would rather be judged by jurors and carried to my grave by six palbearers.

But it does AFFECT him, and me too! Crazy talk tough guy stuff just perpetuates the perception of truck drivers as crass morons.

But that being said, your decision to break the law most definitely DOES effect me. You see as a driver, I consider myself to be a professional and I strive to exude the traits of a professional in everything I do at work. But no matter how professional I am, I have to constantly put up with being treated like a common criminal while on the job. Go to a shipper, walk in the drivers door, find yourself in a 6'x10' chain link cage. No place to sit down. No bathroom to take care of physiological needs like a civilized human being. Why? Because the powers that be in these facilities believe its common knowledge that truckers are low life criminals who cannot be trusted. And why is that? Simple. Because many of our brethren that we share the roads with every day are low life scum who would think nothing or breaking the law. So yeah, when you decide to break the law, it DOES effect me and not in a good way.
My sig line is what it is for a reason.HwyPrsnr Thanks this. -

I dont see a reason to drive around all day with a loaded gun. That being said I have spent the night at some shippers where I might have rested a little better knowing I had a loaded gun ready. Thats not enough for me to start carrying one in the truck, theres just to much hassle involved. ( Going into Canada, Factories that don't alow them, and the potential hassle from law enforcment) If I would ever decide to carry one I think I would keep it locked up and unloaded with the ammo stored in a separate location. Then if i was forced to pack somewhere I felt my life was in danger I would get it out. If by chance I was bothered by someone with the AUTHORTY to search my truck I would simply legally stow everthing before I opened the bunk curtains and let them search. There is a federal law that gives you authority to carry a gun for legal reasons (Hunting or Target Shooting) anywhere in the US. If they hassle you tell them your an avid shooter and try to find a range when you have down time.
