?? On MTS is saying I tampered w/Truck to prospective employers!! What can I do?

I have a question, I drove OTR for MTS out of Grand Rapids for almost 2 years, very poor company to work for, I had quit twice and was rehired because I took such good care of my trucks and always went the 'extra mile'. Well I had been called by Meijer and considered them but had decided to stay with MTS, needless to say they found out I had been job hunting and fired me. WELL they said I was let go because I had tampered with the truck! I had in no way done anything to that truck and the former dispatcher will even attest to the fact I received that truck in that condition. Now due to the poor MI economey I am looking for a better job, Meijer has really screwed me around, but MTS is telling everyone that calls that I was fired because I tampered with the truck and no one wants to hire me! I have a wife, 2 kids, am older dependable driver and they are totally screwing my job opprotunities. WHAT CAN I DO? I have called and spoke with someone that is suppose to pull my file, but the owner, Bret, is the one that started all this and I would love to get it taken care of so I have a chance at making a decent living. Any info would be great!! Thanks

Sigh.. Hire a lawyer. Yes, it's expensive but getting back to work is worth it. I don't know how these sleazy companies get away with this. It's just not right!!!
