| DOT and rules?? One of our guys was pulled over today moving our Excavator. Dot bear was on a subdivision road (city street) and had another dump truck pulled over with the driver in the front seat of the DOT pickup. 2 things i see wrong with this is #1 he took off after our guy with the driver from the other company still in his truck. #2 does a state DOT bear have any jurisdiction on a city subdivision road? It isn't a state or county highway. Anyway he weighed our truck and we were 1300# over but let us slide on that and wrote us a ticket for over width. We were 108" and hadn't bought our over width permit yet this year. $85 for that. This guy is a REAL PITA and was moved to this area from western Montana as he had death threats at the coop there. Anyone got any answers???

Around here they have authority anywhere. I was stopped and weighed in the middle of a subdivision late last year. See I can run 80,000 on 2 lane roads and only 73,200 on the big road. I was 79k and some change... he ended up following me allll the way to where I dumped at to make sure I didn't get on the big road. Here they will wave you in behind a truck they already have stopped. Haven't seen them leave a driver to get another one. Sounds like this guy is trying to make a name for himself in a new town.

#2 he has been making a name for himself for 4 years here. Jackazz followed me 20 miles out of the pit one day and pulled me over at the BOTTOM of a 6% 54 mile long grade!!!! He said i "LOOKED" a little heavy! Scaled me and sent me on my way to creep 15 mph up the damn grade from a dead stop!!! ![]() ![]()

I dunno, thats just Arkansas law for ya. We have a DOT man here that is nowhere near like that but still can be a PITA. He pulled me over during rush hour in a bad bad spot to see my weight ticket. I was under weight so he sent me on my way. I had to sit on the shoulder forever waiting for traffic to clear so I could get going again. (Was just after a curve on the big road, river bridge about 200ft ahead of me) I had to carry that load home and deliver the next day because I had to sit so long.

| yeah - DOT is like the troopies - they have jurisdiction just about everywhere. The troopies leave the county roads to the sheriff, who in turn leaves the city streets to the local PD. But if they took a notion, they have full authority to wander into town and put the hurt on somebody. As for those individuals... every organization has somebody who belongs in the bottom of the porta-potty. So long as they stay legal, they can be as much of a PITA as they like. That being said, however, a polite letter of complaint to the supervisor can occasionally work wonders. Especially if there are enough of them. |

CO you are good for 85,000 on secondary roads. 80K on the big road. And number two you are paid by the hour. Why do you care if you were to drive 5 mph up the hill? Like Lurch said............. send Pork Chop's boss a letter. Or do like I've been telling you for the last several yrs. Send the tub of lard a box of donuts from Boulder for christmas. Take the heat off of you. But you don't have the set to do it.
