It looks like you have the common misconception that quite a few drivers do--even some O/O's I've talked to who have driven for years.

You can be on duty as many hours as you want. The FMCSR can only regulate certain things. I can be on-duty 20 hours in a day (I think the most I've really done is about 19), take a 10-hour break, and be compliant the when I wake up.

personally, i will not serve. however, my wife was summoned, and insisted on doing her patriotic duty. the trial was going to be, perhaps a month long. after hearing only the preliminaries, she said we was positive her call would be guilty. i demanded she show up at the next scheduled time, and tell the judge she wished to be dismissed because she could not be fair. she did, he reamed her pretty good, and she was dismissed. i was called on twice. both times i said i hate cops, and judges, accept my vote of not guilty now, and save us both the wasted time. they didn't ask me to serve. i have no civic duty. who the hell is anyone to tell me i have "civic duty?"

Well, you do live in the US and you expect to be able to carry out your day safely knowing criminals are in prison, but I guess that "civic duty" is only for the lowlies that have nothing to do with their time.

I worked for a company that paid a full days pay for jury duty.I had jury duty three times in 13 years.Never was chosen. The first one never went to trial. The lawyers settled before trial in closed chambers. The second one,I was dismissed after the defense team didn't like my answers to their questions while picking a jury. The third,a simple drunk driving case.During questioning by the defense lawyers, I stated that I had never failed a breath test for alcohol as a commercial driver.I was released.Nowadays courts don't look kindly on people that don't show up for jury duty and you can be arrested for failure to show. The most important thing is while being questioned by the defense or procecuter as potential juror is how you answer their questions. Here are some examples.Drunk driving case,my friend was killed by a drunk driver.Murder case,I had a friend killed by one,Another one,I have family in law enforcement.Look I never tried to get out of jury duty nor should you.I know it's a hardship but I would rather see a good man stay out of jail and a bad man go in.One other thing, showing up for jury duty still counts as serving, even if you were dismissed. You won't be required show up for two years but keep your paperwork as proof.

Yea, it seems like I get called once a year. The last time was for a DUI. A Saint Cloud cop tried to screw some farm boy. It was clear the guy was innocent. The company I was working for paid my salary. I don't even think a crack head would want to do it for $21. Another thing is that here you can ask to be released for really no reason but they call you again within 60 days.

I don't think I'd call it getting paid. More like a reimbursement and I sure would not log it.

I agree and will e-mail DOT next week. I didn't want to immediately do it and call out my boss that he was wrong (then again maybe he is right?).

Either way play dumb and log it off duty! OOOPPPPPSSS I DIDN'T SAY THAT DID I:biggrin_25513:
