I know , I know but another log question!
On my 70/8 does my " On Duty Not Driving" count against my 70? I was told it does but I thought that my 70 was just my "Driving Time"?

Items shown on lines 3 & 4 are used to compute the hours worked. These amounts are then deducted from the 70 hour rule.

Therefore Onduty not driving is the same as driving.

Both lines 3 and 4 count against your 70

It depends who you ask,some companies don't but some do count it against your 70 hour. The book says it does not,However if you go over your 14 hour workday you CAN NOT DRIVE, but you can work as long as you want but remember that you can't drive again until yo have a ten hour break It doesn't mater if you only drove 1 hour and where loged on duty /not driving for 13 hours,you have to have a ten hour

Once you start it, your 14 hour clock is the only one you CAN'T turn off.

An easy way of remembering is as soon as log on duty count ahead 14 hours and make a little mark on your log , so through out the day you can look at that mark so you know when you need to shut her down..

So to answer your question NO your 14 does not count against your 70, You could be on duty/ not driving for a month if you wanted to but you better not sit in that drivers seat until you have had a ten hour break.....

Could you list the page number or the regulation that says that the book does not count against the 70 hours?

As far as the 14 against the 70, that was not what was questioned.

It's not a company decision ... it is the federal regulations and all on duty time counts.
