wow even california gives you 200lb or 300lb on one axle as long as you aren't over gross

I was in Louisiana and was 240 LBS over on the trailer. I was shown the weight and told slide the tandems and come back around. Slide them and went back around and given the green light..

One thing all you newbies should know....and this I got straight from a DOT officer during my BIT: A brand new truck right off the lot can be placed OOS if the inspecting officer finds anything that would put the rig OOS. This officer told me that they can find numerous items wrong even on a new rig. It's whether or not the driver is "asking for it" that determines it. I have had Road-side inspections on older rigs with worn auto-slack adjusters and got out of a ticket and OOS by adjusting them (they were all company trucks). I almost got an OOS for having a "Tractor Plate" on a Ten-wheeler but I explained to the officer that's how the the rig originally was registered. I had to change to a Straight truck set. Tractors require one plate and start with the #9 and sraight trucks require two plates and start with the #8. That's how it is in Kommifornia anyways.

Illinois is the dumbest state of them all, next to CA ofcourse. Last winter I had about 3k lbs of ice on me and the idiot made me chip it away, like a dumb a s s i started to chip away at it with a hammer, then the dot needle dick told me i had 2 lights out on the trailer (not mandatory lights but extra ones on the bottom rail of trailer) and he was going to write me up for it. I kept arguing with him that the ice tore the wiring from them and they are not mandatory but he kept giving me his bull crap... So i took my hammer knocked them lights of the trailer completley and asked the idiot if he was still going to give me a ticket for it since there was nothing there? He had this idiotic look on his face and said well no..... At this point i was steeming mad and told him since you have nothing better to do and work for the state why dont you go get some excersize and start chipping away at this freakin ice. Went back to the truck and went to sleep, 2 hours later i woke up went in to take a leak and he just told me to leave....

Anyone remember when those scales at Banning Ca got busted by the feds when they took their own trucks in to catch them at their crap? Sounds like they need to do the same in IL. Dont know whose worse anymore. DOT or the IRS.

It wasn't all that long ago. That scale had so many complaints. Writing up drivers for crap that wasn't true. Basically money making schemes. Well the feds got curious and set them up. Got their own trucks and drivers and ran them thru the scales. They did it for about a month if I remember correctly. Then went in and cleaned house. Fired alot of inspectors and threaten to pull funding if the state didn't straighten it out. It used to be a truckers true hell hole.
