spring clip

i enforce fmcsa rules and regs in nyc . missing that clip is not an out of service unless the leafs have shifted under fed regs . illinois law i dont know . this defect can be written under fail to maintain inspect repair . but i would not take the vehicle out of service .the officer was correct as this is a violation but the state law with out of service for any violation seems strange . these clips are there to keep the leafs inline and if the springs are not shifted , i would not bother writing it . no safety issue in my oppinion . maybe he handled the situation based upon your attitude .

That is the key right there....
Whenever I get the the arrow or the message to go to the coop, I park the rig, bring my binder, wallet, and my polite attitude. Yeah, sometimes (about less than .005 of the time) I did something wrong. Most of the time it's to make sure that I'm squared away.

Even if you did something wrong, a good attitude goes a long ways to reduce the "pain".

tell me what does attitude have to do with law?

so if i am nice, i can break the law, but if have an attitude, i am held to some impossible standards?

cops are supposed to uphold the law, not apply it willy nilly depending on how much someone kisses up to them

but then again, i thought the guys who shot ahmadu diallo deserved the death penalty. what do i know?

The I 90 scale in eastern WY makes you split weight spread axle trailers.

More often than not, attitude has everything to do with it. If you get pulled into a scale, or get pulled over on the side of the road, and the first thing out of your mouth is attitude...get ready for a long day. On the other hand, if you treat the LEO with a little respect and courtesy, he'll probably return the favor and not be so nit-picky during the inspection.
IOW, you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

Attitude has nothing to do with being able to break the law.

I guarantee that if you say get pulled over for a broken tail-light and you call the officer a derogatory name, you'll find out real quick how attitude comes into play.

Raafi, Stop being a friggin' VICTIM.

This is getting old......
