to tall to wide load permit in Oklahoma

First off, I'm not a trucker, just a farmer with a Freightliner and a boat trailer. I have a little fishin boat in my yard that I need to move from Elgin Okla. to Port Cattusa Okla. next spring. Problem is it is 17 feet wide, 55 feet long and 19 feet tall. And,,, a little overweight. I don't mind paying any fines I may incur and as a farmer in Okla. I get a little leeway for big loads (usually combines and big plows). What I really need is a route from here to there. Trying to get that without all of my ducks in a row (and correctly numbered, stacked, weighed and named) is just impossible for me with our system. Any help is appreciated,,,,I pay good. thanks

Can't help ya out there, but that's a 'little' fishing boat? Also, love the bit you have there about getting your ducks in a row! I'm sure there will be someone on here that will be able to help you get those ducks 'correctly numbered, stacked, weighed and named'! It may take a bit of time, as some of these guys only get to check in once a week or so, so be patient.

Good luck.Oklahoma has been changing the permits and routing week to week. One week we can haul tower sections on a route, and the next week they won't issue the permit for the same route..Kansas won't allow us up Hwy.75 anymore. Now we have to go to the western side and come north from there....

Contact the Oklahoma DOT.They can supply you with an oversize/overweight routing map.I wouldn't haul up there without the proper permits and an escort service. The fines and the liability are just to great. It's about 200 miles up to the Port of Catoosa and your boat is going to stick out like a sore thumb for every DOT enforcement officer on the way.I had friends that hauled oversize boats awhile back. They worked for Joule Yacht Transport.A national carrier of oversize/over weight boats thats been around for decades.Go to their website and get a quote based on the dimensions of your boat.If you need more info on who is also available you can contact the port. They can suplly you with a list of heavy haulers.

Whichwaywest is right in that you should contact OK DOT for the routing map. And probably the permits as well.

Pilot cars / services are probably in the yellow pages. There's a number of them (certainly) in my truck stop guide - listed for each state.

You'll have to reduce the load as much as possible. If you have a mast that can come off you'll have to take it off. Once you get you load down in size then you have to weigh so you can get your one-way permits. If you're still 19' high and 17' wide you'll most likely be routed and you'll need escorts. Don't go without escorts. You'd burn too many miracles on that move so you need them. Just remember reduce as much as you can. That includes fuel in the boat and oil, water, furniture, or any material you can move.

It's not that hard to do. You'll have all you routing and when you can drive and when you can't. Let your escorts do their thing and you should have a nice smooth move.

Now when you get done that's the time to PM a couples of us so we can have our fishing gear ready!
