california overweight ticket

Hey there...also I've heard that they will allow up to 20,000 # on your steer if your tires are rated for that much...is that true?

 

I just got a ticket for overweight at the Grapevine scale, CA --- No, the ticket or the officer do not tell you how much the ticket would be for; when I got the ticket in the mail, it was for $424 on less than 3,000 lbs on the rear axle --- I was placed out of service for the night, thank GOD, in the morning I found a more professional courteous officer who allow me to move the trk. back to Bakersfield, CA to Grimmway where I had to pull every single pallet out in order to re-work the load of produce at $5 per pallet --- Dole in Marina, CA, their own scale had shown I was OK??? go figure... it was too late for me to go back there, and I felt too overconfident to CAT scale...

 

I was 2200 pounds over on the trailer tandems at the same scale, no fines, no tickets just, not allowed to leave without fixing it.

 

Pay it. I could scream, But just pay it. Biz in Cali.

 

Feel lucky, they just cited you for over AXLE weight...if you were over total GVW weight, it is closer to $1/lb fine! I had a driver in a bobtail that was 3K over GVW and CHP let him off with just an over axle fine which was in the same ballpark as your $424.00, otherwise it would have been close to $3000!

 

I got a overweight in Barstow scale on over axle on trailor for got to pay it don't been back since I got that ticket what is the statute of limitations it been over 11 yrs
