It should be on the ticket. I got an over in Maryland years ago (couldn't balance a load, and dispatch told me to run with it - via qc), and the amount was on the ticket. I don't know if Cali does the same thing or not.

I got one in northern Cali about 4 years ago, I was about 1800 over and the CHP (at the scales) dropped it down to 1400, the ticket was about 120 bucks.... I was told in Cali that it runs about 10 bucks per 1000 pounds over, but I really dont know if that is true, or what formula they use. I've also heard that different counties are different. Good Luck and just learn from your mistakes, we all screw up sometime.

Go to the California DMV website. In the search box, type in 42030.Then hit on the link for 42030.This will list the fines for excess weight(over axle). After you're done looking at this,do the same for 42030.1.This will show fines for over gross.

Thanks for the help, I will take the $55.00 fine, I was expecting a lot more, this is a great lesson learned, will never happen to me again. Was rushed, forgot the "Captin of the Ship" thing and it cost me, just glad it didn't cost anyone else. Again, thanks for the help

When it comes to Calif fines, usally the stories are worse than reality.

Got one on rear axles on a sealed load, 1500 lbs. - paid via phone and credit card (took nearly 6 weeks to show up) - was 175 plus 12.95 "convenience fee" - not bad, I thought.

got the official summons in the mail, $220.00, expensive lesson, one I will never make again, just goes to show you, there are no short cuts in this game, better to take the time and do it right.
