I understand the law I just feel like I am penalized for taking a break. I mean I am currently parked for repairs on my reefer unit. Ok so now my 14 is ticking away and I won't have time to finish the run today. That means I got to get up at 10 (I stopped at noon) to finish. I'm not winning I'm just saying wouldn't it have been safer to go now? Sure I will drive at night, it has it's advantages. It's just I'm not going to sleep well today as I had planned to be done by about 6pm. If I feel like taking a nap I probably can't because of the 14 hour rule. I understand it's to prevent people from getting up at 5 am and farting around half the day then driving all night. But that's not productive and shouldn't happen as often as the times that the rule forces me to do just that. I wish I could get 11 drive hours and leave it at that. When I take 10 if I get my 11 back. I'm sure you can come up with ways to abuse it but seriously why would you? Waste half the day to use up a little remaining time? No more likely it will allow me to take that nap when I feel like it or to get going when repairs are complete without pushing me to drive with my eyes glued open. Not that I would do that mind you. This is getting long. All I wanted to do is suggest 11 on 10 off, forget the 14.
