I could sugar coat this answer but I will not.
He just canceled his career as a OTR Professional Driver. Truck abandonment is the worst to have besides a DWI in trucking. There is no excuse to leave a truck unless it was a serious medical emergency. He could have laid over 10 hours and drove where ever he needed to go. Sure, they might have called the law but all he had to do is show his logbook. He might get lucky and find a local driver job, that's if they don't use the DAC / USIS system. Because I can gurantee you, USA is using it. You might want to suggest to him, to find a different line of work or sign up for spring classes at a local college. Finding a OTR job might be nearly impossible for him. Wish him the best of luck............

Thanks for the info. That is exactly what i told him too.Its a shame too,he just finished training and got his own truck, was on his way to being a trucker. He thinks for legal reasons, such as them telling him to cheat his logs that it wont matter.BUT I DID TELL HIM HE WAS DEAD WRONG.He called dot and complained,BUT dot is not DAC,and that follows you for life.

doubt that he will have a future with the bigger companies anytime soon.....but he could get on with a smaller company after talking to the owner and explaning what happened and why he left the truck......he might get on........:biggrin_2554:...he could always opt for O/O status and lease onto a company but he might even have to explain that also!

You know,it really is sad too.He just got started and now he is done.the reason i wanted to know these things is that he is my brother in law.I wish he would have called me first.Maybe i could have stopped him.

If he just finished his training, he probably won't have enough experience for anyone to hire, except maybe the worst, most desperate company around.

Well it looks like all of the conversation was on his qualcom. After asking several times where to drop his truck, they just kept sending him out.His manager told him to to fix the logs over the com.Bad move on the company i would think.Dot is investigating the records and the co.Still looks bad but maybe he can still find work.
