It won't be for just checking brake temps.

IR screens are not very big at all. A simple 6x8 lens will do the job.

What they are exactly, I can not tell you. They use so many varieties now. Some are sonic, some x-ray, some sniff, some simply detect radiation. While some do it all.

There is enough gear mounted on those poles in NM to tell what you had for dinner.

    Very true LOL

But...not the case as it seems. The most recent complaint from DHS, a driver could smuggle a bomb under his feet. It appears they delay the scan until your body has passed the machines.

Which I find pretty unbelievable, since most trucks pass through the thing at a pretty fast clip. It's going to take somebody quick on the trigger watching that thing, if true.

So, they let the driver go by, and fry the guy in the sleeper with sonic rays.

this is a point of contention with me. I spent 7 years working with MRI, x-ray and ct scanners. I've had enough radiation for the rest of my life and I don't much appreciate being clasted every time I cross a scale. Plus I imagine they are using some rather high levels as well.

On another note though they have those scanners tuned so fast they could scan the black on a barcode and not the spaces between them at 30mph if the operator is good enough
