Telling me I cant take my firearm THRU a state that doesnt reciprocate with permits is just plain ridiculous.

We have NO SUCH COMPANY POLICY where I work...in fact they encourage us to take ours with us. Its nice to work for a small company with no corprate BS...megafleet BS..
You are not getting my point, even after you quoted me, I have an IL FOI card and there is no safe passage in IL, Maryland, NYC, etc etc etc. AND THERE IS NO FEDERAL TRANSPORT LAW it is governed state by state. If you drive from Iowa to your friends house in IN. 9 times out of 10 if your weapon is stowed correctly a cop won't have a problem with it considering you are just passing thru but get the 1 that feels like busting you he can lock you up.

some states don't reciprocate and YES I AGREE it sucks, I am an avid hunter and have loved shooting since I was a kid, on top of it a personal bodyguard for 7 years, and if my CCW license was not valid in a particular state I had to go unarmed even though I was on the job. I am not argueing that it does or doesn't suck, but I chose to follow the LAW in these matters and never want to give anyone th opportunity to take my guns away from me.

I have posted the link to the ISP concerning gun transport.

Illinois does allow transport of the weapon under certain conditions.

1. Unloaded and,
2. Enclosed in a case, and
3. By persons who have a valid FOID card.

Thank you medic for proving my point, there is a new law in IL (at least new to me) considering I havent been there in years.

If a non-resident is coming to Illinois to hunt and would like to bring their firearm, how do they legally transport it?Non- residents must be legally eligible to possess or acquire firearms and ammunition in their state of residence. It is recommended that, in order to be in compliance with all statutes, non-residents transport all firearms:
  1. Unloaded, and
  2. Enclosed in a case, and
  3. Not immediately accessible or broken down in a nonfunctioning state.
The only law that allows you not to be licensed in IL is in reguards to hunting.

Again I know it sucks but the law is the law and all it takes is 1 time to get poped

Firearm laws are clear as mud.

1. Can you carry a firearm in a commercial vehicle? Yes, depending on the state. If you live in the state of FL, for example you do not need a FOI card (firearm owners identification) but the 3 step rule applies UNLESS your have a concealed permit.
Hey Geno, I agree with you on the clear as mud thing but just FYI the "three step rule" is bogus and is no longer the law.

The above underlined can now be as simple as a cigar box or your center console. No locking up is necessary. It can be locked and loaded, it just cannot be out in the open. Before I had my Concealed I carried under my seat in a drawer. Cops knew I had it there because I told them (once when I had an audience of four of them... that's another story) Point is I was within the law. And it was well within reach.
Florida gun laws rock!
