For the record, Texas has a relatively new law that states that it is now completely legal to carry a gun in your vehicle however you want in whatever condition you want regardless of any CCWs you may or may not have. You can keep your Glock on the dash in condition 0 and be legally fine, or keep it in an IWB holster and covered by a coat. If you were so inclined and had all the required paperwork saying that the gun itself is legal with a tax stamp, you could keep a loaded, fully auto AK on the seat.

Frankly, I have always been partial to the short barreled 12 gauge side by side coach shotguns in trucks, and shotguns in general. I even liked using a Remington pump 870 in some combat situations in the military. That will scare someone more than the typical pistol will and usually cause them to lose control of the body functions and decide this is one place where they do not want to be. Very convenient to access this type of weapon when placed properly within reach. Far more acceptable, from a legal standpoint, than any handgun. And anyone who has professionally been in situations that weapons are used, know that unless one really practices and is proficient with a side arm, they are more likely to miss than hit their opponent. Nine .33 caliber nickel plated lead balls heading in an attacker's direction from a single pull of a shotgun trigger is liable to get the job done more efficiently. And like Tom Selleck in the movie Quigley down under, I may not have a lot of use for a side arm, but that doesn't mean I do not know how to use one. And I do own a couple of them.

good lord. all these slugthrowers. I have a 50# recurve bow, and a 200# crossbow in the truck. 50 state legal, no permits yada yada. i always have some of my arrows and bolts fitted with broadheads. i hear tell that they will penetrate body armour, but i'm a better shot than that, and other soft spots are always available anyway... i could carry spears, slingshots, and just about anything that does not require powder without any fear. if it does not require a permit, its legal. "got any weapons?" "Define weapons, officer. You mean firearms? None. but the smallest i have are these stainless steel finepoint pens...." let them chew on that for a while, watch his eyes get big... slings and arrows don't make much noise, either... I should stop this, i'm giving you guys ideas...
